3 Steps to Starting Anything

This week I have had to figure out how to make my sweet Marvin stop squealing through the night. For the nights he’s been here he has not let me sleep because of his incessant crying. It’s all good cause I’ll figure it out and just hug him tighter. 

Since getting home I have really been working hard to find my healthy routine, especially since I hadn’t been able to sleep. The last few days I’ve made a huge effort to get back to my exercise routine and it’s been great. 

And it’s been really frustrating! 

After having such a background in movement, a career as a sponsored triathlete I feel like I’m starting over from the very beginning. For many people the gap is so big they don’t want to begin any exercise regimen. I can’t tell you how many people have told me “I’m not flexible enough to do yoga”. I understand AND whatever your excuse is the reason you should start.  

So starting over (or starting over again) can be frustrating and so exciting. No matter where you are and no matter where you want to go, you need to give yourself permission to go on the journey.

A few days ago, I went and lifted with a group in a class for the first time in months. The group setting pushed me and I realized that I had slid back to the very bottom of my fitness level. It was a revelation that had me get present. I’m excited to take it on and get myself back up again.  

When starting a new journey in your health and fitness, use these three tips to find success. 

Get Support

Find people who will hold you high, even when you won’t do it yourself. These are friends, peers and loved ones who will keep you from sabotaging yourself. The people you are around make a huge difference in the quality of your health and fitness, so take a moment and assess. Do your friends uplevel your health or not? 

 

Get Guidance

When entering something new, it is really important to get guidance through a coach or mentor. Not only will it save you time and effort, but you’ll be able to deal with obstacles and setbacks like a champ with a professional by your side. 

 

Get Moving

Just get yourself started! It’s so easy to sit and plan and wish... but if you get yourself in action, you will see progress. I wonder what it is that has us wait till Monday or New Years to start building our dreams. The only time you have is now. 

 

These steps aren’t just to help you build your body, but every part of your life. There are 4 areas that encompass a life: Mind, Body, Realtionships, Finacial Health. Use the three steps to create what you want in all four areas.

Its not easy but it is simple! Everyday is another opportunity to get to your next level. See you on the other side.
